frequently asked questions
1. How is your 3-day training program different from other Professional Organizer training programs?
Our program is designed to be comprehensive. Meaning our program provides the information, skills and materials needed for a professional organizer to
- form and grow their Professional Organizer business,
- assess the skill level as a Professional Organizer and business owner
- understand the client cycle
- practicum for implementing the client cycle and our 5 Steps to Organizing® process
2. Why would I choose your training program over others?
Our seminars are face-to-face and also offered by Webinar providing you flexibility with your budget and time. The instructors are seasoned Certified Professional Organizers® insuring you rich experiences, skills, and knowledge of the industry and profession.
What is truly unique about our 3-day training program is we provide participants with an hour presentation each from a CPA and an Attorney; other programs are presented by professional organizers only and cannot cover this information at an expert level if at all. The information in these presentations would cost a participant hundreds of dollars if they met with professionals on their own, and they would not be as well informed to ask the questions they need to ask or get the answers they need to structure their business.
We provide participants FIVE hours of hands-on training with clients where they can practice their needs assessment approach and practice our successfully proven 5 Steps to Organizing® process. This experience also provides participants with before/after pictures to get them started with their portfolio.
Participants receive a comprehensive manual containing complete program information, sample forms, and reference materials and resources.
We are competitively priced for the quality and ongoing support you will receive.
We continue to support our participants after their training by phone and e-mail at no cost. Other training programs offer an advance training program or follow-up support for a substantial fee.
We believe our comprehensive approach will substantially increase the success of a professional organizer’s business.
3. Do you sell your manual separately from your training program?
At this time no. You can register for the Self Study Program which includes the manual and is designed for individuals who want to learn at their own pace and time.
4. How soon can I expect a return on my investment (ROI) in your training program?
We believe you will have a higher self-confidence to start your business and build your clientele after attending this seminar. We also believe you will learn skills, techniques and gain experience that justifies starting at a higher hourly rate with the training than without.
If you ask an hourly rate of $10 more per hour than you thought you could ask and you work 20 hours per week you will earn $867 more in one month. Your net investment is $0 after just 2 months. In all future months your ROI (return on investment) is a multiple of $867--that's $10,404 more dollars annually.
5. What is the trend in the professional organizing business?
Professional Organizing is one of the fastest growing service businesses today. The number of Professional Organizers has grown from 1,000 in 1998 to more than almost 4,000 in 2007! Barry Izsak, Immediate Past President of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), says he expects “the growth of this association and this industry not simply to continue but to explode during the next 5 years.”
6. What do I need to do to prepare for the training program?
Know what you want to learn! And, communicate that to us before your training program so we can adopt the curriculum to insure we cover your learning objectives if possible. Read as many books written by professional organizers as possible. Review the NAPO website at www.napo.net.
7. How many participants are in a training program?
Our 3-day training program class size minimum is 3 and maximum is 5 participants. Our curriculum is designed for small group communication discussion and sharing of information, experiences and ideas to enhance a participant’s learning outcomes. Additionally, a size smaller or larger than this would make the hands-on learning experience less meaningful for participants and the client.
8. Once a person completes this training are they certified, or is there an exam to take?
Professional Organizer Training Institute Certified is issued to participants upon completion of 16 hours of course work and 8 hours of a hands-on client practicum organizing project through our Field Training Seminar and demonstration of the organizing and business skills necessary to be Professional Organizer business owner. You will receive a “Certificate of Professional Development and Attendance” and the sessions related to organizing, working with clients, and the practicum can be applied towards the Board of Certified Professional Organizers (BCPO) application.
